Deeside Distillery have created the Still River hand sanitising gel to help with the shortage of hand sanitisers during the Covid-19 crisis and can offer a range of different sizes including:

425ml bottles

Lead time is approx. 3-5 working days maximum at the moment for all 3 but we would be able to offer a more definite timescale once formats are confirmed .  It might be easier to have a minimum of 1 pallet delivered to partnerships who require this and it can be distributed from there.

Letter from Cabinet Secretary & COSLA on Fair Work and the Living Wage in Adult Social Care

Scottish Care has received the following letter from the Cabinet Secretary and COSLA regarding the 3.3% uplift to contract hourly rates from April 2020.

The 3.3% uplift relates specifically to home care and those areas who are not applying a greater value of increase, essentially to set a minimum standard to enable the payment of SLW of £9:30 to social care staff.

UWS: Mindfulness sessions during lockdown

Life during lockdown: understanding mental health & wellbeing

Life has changed considerably for everyone in recent weeks. Whether you have recently started to work from home, are unable to spend time with loved ones or are shielding completely, life in the UK is evolving rapidly.

UWS experts will be delivering short, simple weekly webinar sessions on topics that may help to make life easier and support our mental health and wellbeing over this period of change and uncertainty. During April and May, join the UWS community on Tuesdays at 11am for sessions on topics including:

• What is mental health?
• Are there signs we can look out for?
• Are there ways to manage anxiety, depression or isolation?
• How can we support our loved ones as well as ourselves?
• What is mindfulness and how can it help us?

UWS experts will support with simple techniques which may help you to make the most of your time this spring. Our first two trainers are:

Dr Robin Ion is a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health at UWS and has extensive experience in the design, delivery and review of mental health nurse education.

Professor Ross Deuchar is an expert social scientist, with research in youth crime, policing and social justice. He is particularly interested in mindfulness and the application of techniques to manage emotion.

The first session will take place on Tuesday, 21st April at 11am and will last approximately 15 minutes. All sessions are free to join and links to connect will be sent to all participants following registration.

“I am happy to confirm that our disposable face shields have been designed and manufactured to comply with both the CE mark and BS EN166:2002.  The product is only required to meet CE Category 1 but has been ‘over qualified’ to meet with Category 2 which is above and beyond what is required.  The accreditation for both these standards is currently going through – CE Mark Category 1 was approved yesterday and the British Standard very soon.  The accreditation is being fast-tracked to ensure that it is an NHS approved product which we are really pleased to be able to be offering clients.  There is some sub-standard product out there and only last week HSE ordered HM Customs to reject 8 containers of disposable face shields coming in due to being sub-standard quality!  You won’t get that with these.”

 

The disposable face shields has anti-fogging coating, is made of optically clear PET, and has an elastic head band for adjustability.
