The Year of Active Membership

About the Year of Active Membership
Scottish Care is delighted to announce that 2025 is the Year of Active Membership.
This year, we are fully committed to engaging with our members, amplifying your voices, and ensuring you play a central role in shaping the future of social care.
We are dedicated to fostering two-way dialogue, where your insights continue to drive our priority actions and advocacy. This will involve numerous opportunities for you to get involved, share your expertise and contribute to the sector’s future.

On May 2024, Scottish Care’s Briefing Report detailed widespread delay in receiving payment for delivered care packages from respective Local Authorities or Health Boards.
Given the significant impact of such ongoing delays on the sustainability of the adult social care sector, this template letter has been developed by Scottish Care, to support our members’ efforts to receive delayed payments for delivered care services.
So far in 2025, the following resources have been developed through our year of active membership.
- January 2025 – “It Feels Like We Don’t Exist”: Scottish Care Calls for Action Following Care at Home Membership Survey
Our research draws attention to the stark impact of ongoing funding pressures, the untold stress on the sustainability of providers across Scotland, and diminished access to an adequate level of person-led care.
- February 2025 – “I worry about the Future” – 49% of Care Homes Report a Decrease in Placements
Scottish Care’s latest research: “I worry about the Future”, details the significant decrease in Local Authority or Health Board placements across the country. This includes the concerning practice of ‘2:1’ placement policies, requiring two residents to pass away before a home can receive the funding for one placement.
To ensure the ongoing efficacy of the year of active membership, Scottish Care will be providing a range of forums to guide our campaign and ensure two-way dialogue.
