At Scottish Care we believe technology and digital innovation can unlock greater independence, safety and wellbeing across Scotland’s social care sector.
Through our Care Technology and Technology & Digital Innovation workstreams we support the independent sector to understand, adopt and shape tech-enabled solutions that reflect a human-rights-based, person-centred approach. We enable engagement between providers, developers, academia and policy makers to ensure digital tools are accessible, relevant and grounded in real experience. Whether at home, in care settings or via community supports, we work to create the conditions where technology adds value not complexity, helping providers thrive and people live better.

Our work brings thought leadership, resources and collaboration into technology and social care. We spotlight care technologist roles, digital-inclusion initiatives, case studies and industry-partnerships, helping providers and the workforce engage with meaningful innovation, understand the possibilities of tech, and shape a future where digital works for people and relationships.
From pilot roles like the care technologist and care connector, to digital care-planning tools and assistive-technology resources, our Care Technology workstream supports practical, person-led tech adoption across independent care services. We seek to make solutions accessible for everyone who needs them, helping people live safely and more independently. Provider organisations can access training programmes, resource guides and implementation support to integrate technology into their services. Whether you’re exploring voice-activated devices at home or want to embed a care technologist in your organisation, our tools and case studies help you translate innovation into everyday improvement.
Scottish Care’s Technology & Digital Innovation team leads on thought leadership, partnerships and strategic development in digital social care. We articulate visions such as “Technology & Digital in Social Care” and engage in design projects that emphasise rights, relationships and partnership. We convene collaborations with industry, academia and the independent sector to explore how digital, data and technology can strengthen social care now and in the future.
Our strategy focuses on promoting human-rights frameworks, showcasing the innovation capability of the sector, and facilitating meaningful participation in national and international innovation projects. By working with members and tech partners we aim to create a future-ready, resilient and inclusive care ecosystem.
We offer a rich library of resources and engagement opportunities covering digital skills, tech adoption, data ethics and innovation in care. These include training courses for care technologists, guides on assistive devices, project reports and case studies of innovation in action. We also host events and convene networks where providers, developers and researchers connect to share experience, debate challenges and co-design solutions. Through ongoing engagement and learning we support organisations to develop capability, make informed decisions and embed technology meaningfully in care delivery. Whether you’re a frontline team, a provider leader or a tech partner, our resources help you engage with digital confidently and ethically.
If your organisation is ready to explore technology, collaborate with innovators or develop your digital capability, we’re here to help. Engage with our work, access our tools, contribute your insights and together we can shape a care sector where innovation supports people, relationships and outcomes.
