I am Head of Digital Futures at Scottish Care, where I help our members navigate the opportunities and challenges created by digital transformation, emerging technologies, data and AI.

My role sits at the intersection of social care, innovation, policy and research. Working closely with care providers, government, academia and technology partners, I support the development of practical approaches that help the sector respond to change while keeping people, relationships and human rights at the centre.

Before joining Scottish Care, I spent over a decade at Alzheimer Scotland, leading and supporting national programmes focused on technology and service innovation, and improving the lives of people living with dementia and those who support them.

At Scottish Care, I lead work across digital transformation, future workforce development, data and responsible AI. This includes supporting initiatives such as the Care Technologist, strengthening the sector’s use of data as part of public service reform, and helping providers prepare for the opportunities and implications of emerging technologies. A growing area of focus is supporting the responsible adoption of AI in ways that are ethical, practical and grounded in the realities of care.

A key part of my role involves partnerships and convening across academia, research, government and industry to connect evidence, innovation and practice. I am a regular contributor to conferences, events and publications, speaking and writing on topics including digital transformation, innovation, emerging technologies, data and the responsible use of AI in care and support.

What drives me is a belief that social care has an essential role in shaping the future of technology, rather than simply responding to it. Some of the most innovative, compassionate and creative work happening anywhere in public services is taking place in social care. A key part of my role is ensuring those stories, voices and ideas are recognised, amplified and reflected in the policies, technologies and innovations that will shape the future of care and support.
