Queen’s Nurse Development Programme – Closing Soon!

Queen’s Nurse Development Programme – Closing Soon!

Social care providers in Scotland who employ registered nurses are invited to nominate a member of staff for a nine-month transformational leadership programme.

The Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland (QNIS) is a charity which supports, develops, and inspires Scotland’s community nurses and midwives to be agents for health improvement and catalysts for social change.

The Queen’s Nurse Development Programme provides an opportunity to develop the skills of those who are committed to making a difference in their communities, particularly to the lives of those who live in areas of deprivation or are marginalised by society. The programme is a journey of discovery, giving candidates the time and space to discover their skills as facilitators of improvement.  This year we are prioritising places for nurses working in social care.

The programme is fully funded but it requires employers to release staff for ten days between March and November 2024. Candidates attend a residential workshop in March 2024 with two further follow up workshops in June and October. Candidates are supported by one-to-one coaching throughout the programme where they work on an issue for development agreed by their employer.

We are particularly keen to offer places to those who are currently underrepresented in the Queen’s Nurse community:

  • People of the global majority
  • Nurses who are internationally educated
  • Young nurse leaders (under 35)
  • Men in social care nursing

Candidates need to be nominated by the organisation’s Chief Executive or equivalent. This can be done by sending their name, email address and job title to [email protected] by noon on 4th of October 2023. Once they have been nominated, the closing date for candidate applications is midday Wednesday 15th November 2023.
