Leith Legends Complete Incredible World Cup Challenge

Leith Legends Complete Incredible World Cup Challenge

A group of sheltered housing tenants known as the Leith Legends have completed an inspiring 3,070-mile walking challenge ahead of Scotland’s FIFA World Cup campaign.

Aged between 60 and 95, the group marked their final mile with a walk from the Royal Mile to the Scottish Parliament on 11 June, celebrating the end of a journey that began earlier this year.

Walking the equivalent distance from Edinburgh to Boston, the Legends tracked their progress through daily steps, both individually and together, building fitness, friendship and a strong sense of achievement along the way.

The group will be presented with certificates next week at Easter Road Stadium, recognising their remarkable efforts. The ‘March to the Match’ challenge was created by the Sheltered Housing Team at Harbour Homes, who were recently recognised with the Care Innovation Award at the Scottish Care Awards in May.

Their remarkable challenge has captured wide attention, with the group featured on STV, Forth 1 News and in the Edinburgh Evening News.

As Scotland’s World Cup excitement continues to build, the Leith Legends have already achieved something extraordinary, showing that age is no barrier to ambition, connection and staying active.
