Care Creates: Human Rights Video – Kirsty Cartin

Care Creates: Human Rights Video – Kirsty Cartin

As part of this week’s theme, we are highlighting reflections from our Executive Members.

Today, Kirsty Cartin of Rashielee Care Home shares why human rights must be the foundation of social care in Scotland.

Kirsty emphasises that human rights ensure people are treated with dignity, respect and fairness. They guarantee:

  • equitable access to the care a person needs
  • privacy and personal autonomy
  • choice and meaningful independence in daily life
  • protection from discrimination, abuse and harm

She reminds us that human rights help people feel safe, valued and supported – and that these principles matter to all of us.

“We may all need care at some point, and we all have human rights.”

This is what care creates.
