Care Creates: Human Rights Video – Annette Wilson

Care Creates: Human Rights Video – Annette Wilson

In our last video clip for Right at the Heart of Social Care Support today, Annette Wilson from Call‑In Homecare, and a member of the Scottish Care Executive, shares her reflections on why human rights must be at the heart of Scotland’s social care system.

Annette highlights the power of truly listening to lived experience, shaping support around what matters most to a person. When we embed human rights, care can create confidence, independence and genuine human connection.

She also calls for compassionate, competent and culturally aware leadership, and for systems that aren’t working to be challenged. Human rights must be more than policy, they must be realised in practice, every day, for those who both give and receive care.
