Alert – journalists posing as family members

Scottish Care has heard reports of journalists posing as a family member phoning care homes. They say their name is Shanna Jones, who in reality is a journalist – however, Shanna has said someone was impersonating her doing this.

This person has been phoning around care homes in the Perth & Kinross area. She starts off the conversation saying that she is looking for a care home for her grandad in England but quickly moves to ask about Covid-19 infection rates in staff and residents and any Covid-19 responses.

Please share this alert with your staff and be aware of any suspicious phone calls.
