Crieff Nursing Home welcomes new Manager with traditional Sri-Lankan cuisine
On Monday, 17 August, Dalnaglar Nursing Home – part of BCG, one of Scotland’s leading care providers – welcomed returning Home Manager, Judith Meaden, with open arms to her new home. Some members of the team took the opportunity to create special dishes and invoke traditions from their home country of Sri Lanka.
The surprise party was organised by Operations Support Manager, Kirsty Smith, working secretly with the team to create a unique welcome, along with Mel Logan, Senior Nurse from the Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership.
One of the highlights was a Sri Lankan traditional dish of Milk Rice brought in by Senior Care Assistant, Nipuna – especially chosen for the celebration, as it is shared during weddings, birthdays, and other special occasions. In this case for new beginnings and welcoming to a new home.
Other culinary offerings included fish rolls prepared by Dilini, pork and chicken curries cooked by Damith and Kaveesha, followed by traditional Sri-Lankan pancakes served by Maleesha.
Throughout the informal get-together, the team and residents enjoyed the opportunity to chat to the new Home Manager, Judith, who returns to BCG after a short break, and brings with her extensive experience within the care sector.
Judith was touched by the unexpected welcoming, and said:
“When I left, it didn’t take long for me to realise just how much I missed being part of the BCG team. I missed the positive culture, the people and the sense of purpose that comes with working here. As my first day highlighted, the team spirit, support and sense of community is clear. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to return.
“I am absolutely delighted to be back, especially at this fabulous Perthshire home in Crieff. From day one, I have felt welcomed and supported, and I already feel part of a fantastic team once again.
Coming back feels like coming home and why I love being part of the BCG family.”
Everyone at the home was thrilled that Judith’s return was to their Dalnaglar Nursing home.

The welcome party was a huge success in building immediate bonds, and continues to contribute towards the positive and supportive environment within Dalnaglar. The home prides itself on providing individually tailored care, and days like this help to foster and build strong relationships between the team and residents, creating a community atmosphere where everyone is embraced and included.
