What can we learn from countries that have successfully reformed long-term care?

While many nations struggle to modernise long-term care, others are demonstrating that meaningful reform is possible. In this webinar we will explore the experiences LTC reform in 6 very different countries and regions have approached care reform, examining the political, social, and practical factors that have enabled change and the lessons that can be applied elsewhere.

This webinar will cover:

  • Chile: ambitious reform and implementation challenges, with Pablo Villalobos Dintrans (Universidad Mayor)
  • Denmark: evolving community-based care systems, with Tine Rostgaard (Roskilde Universitet)
  • Japan: continuous improvement through regular system reviews, with Ruru Ping (Hitotsubashi University)
  • Kerala (India): advancing toward supporting family carers, speaker TBC
  • Slovenia: the newest LTC social insurance system, with Tjaša Potočnik (University of Ljubliana)
  • Spain: a major reform to crystallise the right to care, with Elia Gomez Castro (SIIS)

Moderators: Finn Turner-Berry (National Care Forum) & Adelina Comas-Herrera (London School of Economics and Political Science)

This webinar is part of a Global Virtual Roundtable series organised in partnership by the Global Ageing Network, National Care Forum, Scottish Care, Ontario Long Term Care Association and the Global Observatory of Long-Term Care, building on the Ageing Commons format. We aim to bring together researchers, providers, workforce leaders, and practitioners from around the world to explore one of the most urgent challenges in long-term care: building and sustaining a strong workforce while maintaining quality of life and quality of care.
