Valuing Social Care Expertise: Resilience, Relationships and Professional Judgement
Scottish Care is delighted to invite members to our next Workforce Matters event, taking place on Thursday 1 October 2026 at The Boardwalk, Glasgow (9:30am–3:30pm). This event will bring together social care leaders, managers and workforce professionals from across Scotland to explore one of the most important questions facing our sector today: how do we ensure that social care expertise is recognised, respected and valued?
As the social care sector continues to navigate growing complexity, workforce challenges and increasing demands, the need for strong leadership, resilience and professional confidence has never been greater. This event provides a unique opportunity for delegates to come together, reflect on shared experiences and participate in meaningful discussions about the future of leadership and professional practice within social care.
Throughout the day, participants will explore how resilience is developed and sustained in challenging environments, the importance of peer support and professional relationships, and the role that professional judgement plays in delivering high-quality, person-led care. Sessions will focus on strengthening connections across the sector, sharing practical learning and considering how social care leaders can be better supported in their decision-making and professional roles.

Professional Judgement, Decision-Making and the Social Care Sector – an interactive discussion exploring how social care expertise is understood across wider systems, the complexity of professional decision-making, and what is needed to build relationships based on trust, respect and shared understanding.
