Hello, my name is David Reilly, and I am the Chair of Scottish Care.
I have been part of the Scottish Care Executive Board for the past seven years, and it is a real privilege to now serve as Chair of the organisation at such a critical time for social care in Scotland. I have also been a member of the National Committee for the past ten years, representing Glasgow care at home providers in my role as Branch Chair. Having worked closely with members, fellow Board colleagues and the executive team over many years, I am committed to supporting and strengthening our collective voice.
Alongside my role as Chair, I am the Chief Executive Officer of Baillieston Community Care and Extended Personal Care, two well-established, not-for-profit organisations providing care at home, residential and day support services to adults and older people across Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire & Falkirk. I have over 33 years’ experience in health and social care, and my career has been shaped by a strong belief in person-led, compassionate care and the value of the workforce who deliver it every day.
I am also the Independent Sector Representative on the Glasgow Integration Joint Board, which gives me a clear understanding of the wider health and social care system, commissioning pressures and the importance of meaningful partnership working between statutory and independent providers.
As Chair of Scottish Care, my focus is on championing the essential role of social care, supporting our members through ongoing challenges, and working constructively with government, commissioners and national partners to influence policy and secure a sustainable future for the sector. I am equally committed to supporting the Chief Executive, leadership team and national staff to ensure Scottish Care remains effective, and responsive to its members.
I look forward to working with you and continuing to build a strong, confident and collaborative independent care sector across Scotland.
