Laura has worked in Adult Social Care services for over 15years, having started off straight from school as a trainee receptionist for a local care provider when she was 17. She then progressed her career and held Operational, Recruitment and HR roles with Care at Home and Care Home providers both locally in Highland and Nationally. She completed a Diploma in Human Resource Practice in 2018 and is a current associate member of the CIPD. Laura joined Scottish Care’s Partners for Integration Team in January 2024 with her background really complimenting her unique post in Highland as the Independent Sector Career & Attraction Lead working with Care Homes across the Region.
What are you currently working on


Laura’s focus is to promote the benefits of working in Independent Sector Care Home provision and to specifically attract more potential employees to work in this highly rewarding sector, specifically requiring her to connect with potential care home recruits through innovative means, harnessing technology, and social media to convey the many positive benefits of a care home career and engage with relevant stakeholders to develop effective mechanisms to promote and channel this interest.
Future Plans ,Areas of Work and Upcoming Events 


-Collaborating with UHI Inverness to bring a Social Service focussed careers event to the campus for a 2nd year, this will bring together students, teaching staff, SSSC and Social Service employers (across Adult Social Care and Childcare), together to showcase the career, learning, and development opportunities available within the sector locally in the Highlands. This will take place on 28th April 2026. -Working with the local authority, DYW and Skills Development Scotland to bring experiential learning into schools to show young people the career opportunities within social care and progression routes into those careers. -Closely connected to the International Employers Network and has a keen interest in supporting displaced worker recruitment activity -Laura is involved with the Highlands Workforce North project and is leading the representation for Social Care -Recently joined the DYW Advisory board for Inverness & Central Highland as an industry representative -Currently working on a webpage for Highland Care Home Career opportunities and information as a follow on project to the Care Home Map which Laura developed in partnership with NHS Highland back in June 2024 https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?hl=en&mid=1r5FBySIDY-dM2EPzewJV4Q4hfyl59Ho&ll=57.65751419419411%2C-4.632064750000011&z=9
