TECHNOLOGY DOESN’T HAVE TO BE CONFUSING

Care Technologist Legacy Service overview, mission statement, etc etc.

From July 2022 to July 2023 we delivered person-centred technology-enabled care in Aberdeen, East Ayrshire and Glasgow. Now we want to share our learning so that service users, care providers and family members can benefit.

We believe technology can support and promote independence, safety, wellbeing and reduce isolation, and we believe everyone should have access to this. We want to build digital skills and confidence and increase awareness of technology and its potential use within health social care.

Our work aligns with the Scottish Government’s ‘My Health, My Care, My Home’ Framework requirement to ‘fully embrace the digital world and use data and technology appropriately to enable people to live well’.

CASE STUDIES

PETER, SERVICE USER

“I had these bits of tech lying about not fully grasping how convenient they were. Meeting Dan through Baillieston has been really helpful and he has helped me to set up my smart plugs and lights properly. Instead of me struggling to find switches I can use my voice. It’s a bit scientific and fun as well as convenient!” – Peter

DAVID, SERVICE MANAGER

“We have always been keen to innovate in our service and having a someone with a role dedicated to technology enabled care has been hugely beneficial. Staff have embraced working differently and service users are able to access the highest quality of care possible.”

CHERYL, CARE TECHNOLOGIST

“ For me, the best part of being a Care Technologist is seeing the smile on people’s faces when they realise that tech can open up a whole new world for them. I really enjoy supporting people on their journey with digital. Seeing someone’s sense of achievement and empowerment when they are able to do something that previously challenged them is so rewarding!”
