Scottish Care : New Models of Care Event

21st October 2016 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

The landscape of health and social care in Scotland is changing:

  • The formation of health & social care partnerships is changing the way services are planned and delivered locally.  Locality planning requires an in-depth understanding of both the local market and local needs, and a range of options must be available to individuals to support their health and social care journey.

  • Processes are underway to reform care home and care at home services, particularly in relation to their commissioning and procurement.  This requires consideration to be given to what we want care home and homecare services to deliver in the future.

    • Self-directed support means care packages will be assessed, purchased and delivered in a much more personalised way, meaning services may have to configure their provision differently.

  • The National Care Standards are changing to reflect a human rights-based approach to assessing someone’s experiences and outcomes of care and support.

All of these changes mean services are considering how they can develop and innovate for the future.  Some have already got learning and good practice to share, others have ideas about how they would like to develop their provision, whilst others are unclear how to ensure their services are fit for the future or are experiencing barriers to innovation.

At whatever stage of their innovation journey, it is essential that providers’ knowledge, experience and ideas are central to shaping local planning.

Scottish Care will therefore be hosting a New Models of Care event for Scottish Care Members on Friday 21st October, 11am-3pm, at the Renfield Centre in Glasgow.  This interactive event will provide a number of opportunities:

    • To hear about policy and practice developments taking place in the social care sector

    • To share learning and experiences of change and innovative practice with other care home, care at home & housing support providers

    • To consider what sort of care the independent sector might want to deliver in the future

    • To identify the conditions needed for development to take place

    • To witness the launch of a new Learning & Innovation platform on the Scottish Care website

    • To be at the forefront of shaping independent sector care provision for the future

    • The National Care Standards are changing to reflect a human rights-based approach to assessing someone’s experiences and outcomes of care and support.
