Palliative and end of life care in Scotland – commissioning, public awareness and delivering best practice

Attendees at this seminar will have the opportunity to assess progress being made in the implementation of the Strategic Framework for Action on Palliative and End of Life Care, which was published in December 2015.

Sessions will focus on the commissioning of palliative care services by Health and Social Care Partnerships as well as the next steps for improving public awareness, and fostering a clinical culture of openness around death, dying and bereavement.

Delegates will also consider ways in which to improve the delivery of personalised care, based on examples of best practice, and the role of wider health and social care professionals in doing so.

The conference will bring together policymakers from the Scottish Government and Parliament along with key stakeholders in health and social care who have an interest in these issues – including both generalist and specialist palliative care professionals – as well as, local government, academia, and representatives of the trade and national press.

We are delighted that Professor Craig White, Divisional Clinical Lead, Healthcare Quality and Strategy Directorate, The Scottish Government has agreed to deliver a keynote address at this conference.

Donald Cameron MSP, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party has kindly agreed to chair a session at the seminar.
