We are delighted to welcome NHS Education for Scotland (NES) to a webinar on Friday 7th October, 1:00 – 2:00 pm.

This session will discuss how NES and Scottish Care members can work together to support the care home workforce.

In this session, we will hear from  Gordon Paterson – Director of Social Care, NES.

A qualified Social Worker, Gordon Paterson has worked in Social Work and Adult Social Care for over thirty years.  For much of his career Gordon worked in Local Authority Social Work Services as a practitioner, trainer, commissioner, service provider and manager.  He has since worked as a Policy Manager in the Scottish Government, as Chief Inspector (Adult Services) in the Care Inspectorate and most recently as a Chief Officer of a Health and Social Care Partnership.

Gordon recently took up post as the new Director of Social Care within NHS Education for Scotland (NES).  This reflects NES’s commitment to provide education and training, make better use of data and intelligence, deliver digital solutions to the social care workforce, in recognition of the value and contribution of social care and in anticipation of the opportunities presented by the National Care Service for Scotland. NES will also collaborate with key partners to support workforce planning and in developing career pathways and new roles to respond to the recruitment and retention challenges facing social care.
