Many of our health and social care policies are based on a human rights perspective and it is vital that we understand what they are and how they are applied in practice. How are we interpreting human rights and do we think they are self -evident? Our participative conference is aimed at asserting the importance of human rights; challenging the interpretation and practice in health and to considering how best to embed an understanding for the profession and patients.

We have an excellent speakers:

Professor Derek Bell: President, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh
Professor Paul Hunt: Human Rights Centre, Essex University
Judith Robertson Human Rights Commissioner Scotland

We will also have a panel discussion to consider different perspectives in relation to prison, international relations, compassionate care, rural issues and a conversation with doctors at different stages in their training.

We look forward to welcoming you to the conference and the RCPE.
