Scotland’s Leading Homecare Conference – A Huge Thank You!

We are delighted to share that over 200 delegates, staff, speakers, and exhibitors came together for this year’s Care at Home & Housing Support Conference, making it another impactful and inspiring event.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a powerful day of learning, connection, and reflection under the theme ‘Compassion in Crisis.’

From thought-provoking keynotes to solution-focused workshops and a vibrant exhibition space, the day was filled with insights, innovation, and vital conversations shaping the future of care at home and housing support across Scotland.

Conference Highlights

Opening Keynote: Dr Donald Macaskill, CEO of Scottish Care, set the tone with his address, “Crisis and New Beginning” emphasising the need for transformative change in the sector.

Fireside Chat: A dynamic discussion on policy, compassion, and the future of homecare featured:

  • Maree Todd MSP, Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing & Sport
  • Dame Jackie Baillie MSP, Scottish Labour
  • Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP, Scottish Liberal Democrats

Insight Sessions: Delegates participated in focused sessions covering:

  • Dementia-inclusive resources and managing stress and distress
  • The ‘Home to Assess’ model by the British Red Cross
  • Leveraging technology and AI in care
  • Enhancing medication support through NHS and care provider collaboration
  • Elevating the homecare workforce through qualification

Financial Guidance: Catriona Smith from the Society of Later Life Advisors provided insights on helping families make informed care funding decisions.

Networking Opportunity: The day concluded with “Sip & Swally,” a relaxed networking hour fostering connections among attendees.

During the conference, Scottish Care unveiled the updated Myth-Busting Report, aiming to dispel common misconceptions about the independent care sector and highlight the realities faced by providers and staff delivering vital services across Scotland. Read the report here.
