    Ranald is Chief Executive of Scottish Care, the representative body for private and voluntary Care Homes, Care at Home and Housing Support services in Scotland. Prior to coming to Scottish Care in 2007, Ranald had an extensive career in Social Work and Social Care across a range of settings. He completed his undergraduate degree at Stirling University and his professional training at Nottingham. He also has a Post Qualifying Award in Child Care Studies from Newcastle University and the Certificate in Social Services Management and Leadership from Robert Gordon’s. Ranald is currently Convener of the Church of Scotland’s Safeguarding Committee. Ranald is also involved in a range of Scottish Government planning groups for services for Older People.

    Gloria is the Deputy Chief Executive of Scottish Care, the representative body for private and voluntary Care Homes, Care at Home and Housing Support services in Scotland. Prior to joining Scottish Care in 2006 Gloria qualified as a Registered Nurse in Belfast, working within NHS health services specialising in services for older people. Over the past 25 years she completed an undergraduate degree, managed small independent and large corporate Care Homes, set up and project managed her first Care at Home Service in 1990. Gloria left a UK Operational Directors role in 2006 to develop Scottish Care at Home which merged with Scottish Care in January 2010. Gloria is a member of the Stroke Association Scotland Committee.

     

    Chairman Iain Buchan

    Iain Buchan is the founder and managing director of Buchan + Associates, a specialist healthcare consultancy practice who pride themselves on their ability to deliver a full range of services across the spectrum of health, social care and the wider not for profit sector.  Iain has a significant portfolio of (strategic) healthcare planning experience across the NHS, and has provided advice and support on projects that range from the re-development of GP premises through to extensive, multi-million pound hospital investment programmes e.g New South Glasgow Hospitals Project (£850m) and Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary NPD (£200m)).  In addition to his role within Buchan + Associates, Iain is the Executive Director of two care homes in Dumfries & Galloway.  He is Chairman of Scottish Care and is the Independent Sector member of the Scottish Government’s Ministerial Strategy Group for Reshaping Care.

     

    Vice Chair Robin Sidebottom

    Robin Sidebottom

    Robin has spent all his life in the care sector, predominantly within learning disabilities and the care at home sector. Having previously operated as a consultant, Robin is currently the Group Operations Director for ILS, Vice Chair of Scottish Care and has previously worked with two of the large UK corporate care providers. Robin also has experience with staff recruitment and retention solutions and expertise in the development of contract winning tenders, which focus on quality and outcomes. Over the last few years he has been involved in personalisation and outcome based care and the overall delivery of quality care services within the care environment.  Robin has worked positively with a number of local authorities and private providers to develop sustainable quality services.

    Becca graduated from the University of Edinburgh in June 2012, having completed a degree in Sociology and Social Anthropology.  She wrote her final year dissertation on factors affecting the provision of elderly residential care in contemporary Scotland.
